Christopher Baker MBE has been appointed to the position of chairman. Nisa said that Baker had considerable experience in corporate strategy and governance having held non-executive roles in both private and public sector organisations. A former non-executive director of Jacques Vert and Blooms of Bressingham, Baker has also held senior management roles at Littlewoods, Coopers & Lybrand and Hill Samuel Bank.
In a second appointment Gillian Wilmot, the founder and chief executive of Board Mentoring, will become an independent non-executive director. Willmott has worked extensively in the retail sector for companies such as Marks & Spencer, Boots, Next, Avon and Littlewoods. In her new role, she will chair Nisa Retail’s remuneration committee.
Nisa also announced that Peter Hartley was appointed as an independent non-executive director in December 2012. Hartley also has a retail background having held senior executive positions with Blacks Leisure, Betterware, Texas Homecare and Next. More recently, he has been a non-executive director of Ariel Communications and outdoor retailer Go Outdoors. Hartley chairs Nisa Retail’s audit committee.
